First deployment
AvailableFrom a validated BPMN model to a running instance.
A deployed BPMN model becomes a process definition. A running execution of that definition becomes a process instance. The normal lifecycle is:
BPMN Model
Validate
Deploy
Process Definition
Start Instance
Execute
Definition vs. instance
| Concept | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Process Definition | Order Approval v3 | The reusable blueprint |
| Process Instance | Order #O1001, #O1002, #O1003 | One execution of that blueprint |
One definition can therefore have many instances running concurrently, each with its own variables and execution state.

Use separate credentials, integrations, and test data for each environment.
Do not test destructive integrations against production unless your organization's policy explicitly permits it.
